Carer's discount

To qualify for this discount a person must either qualify under section 1 or section 2.  They must be either: -

SECTION 1  - relates to a professional carer

a)               providing care or support to another person or persons on behalf of a charity or have been introduced to that person by a charitable organization or Local Authority and

b)                 be employed for at least 24 hours per week and

c)                  not be paid more than £44.00 per week and

d)                 be resident in premises provided by their employer or the charitable organization in order to provide care.

OR:

SECTION 2 - relates to a home carer - ie not a professional carer

a)               providing care to a person who is in receipt of :-

i)            Attendance allowance (lower or higher rate) or

ii)         The middle or highest rate of the care component of a disability living allowance, or the standard or enhanced rate of the daily living component of a Personal Independence Payment

iii)           An increase in the rate of disablement pension or

iv)                An increase in constant attendance allowance or

v)                  Armed Forces Independence Payment and

b)              be resident in the same property as the person being cared for and

c)                be providing care for at least 35 hours per week on average and

d)               is not the spouse/partner of the person being cared for, or the  parent of a child under 18 if the child is the person being cared for.
