What requires listed building consent

The introduction of site visits will be in phases, the first being sites that can be visited without entering a building.

Any alterations that affect the character and special historic interest of a Listed Building will require Listed Building Consent.
Limited repairs to listed buildings do not require Consent; however, if the repairs become extensive, for example complete replacement of a window, or the re-pointing of an entire wall, it may become necessary to apply for Consent. New bathrooms and kitchens are unlikely to require Listed Building Consent, unless there will be any physical alterations to the fabric of the building. Always check with the Conservation Department if you are in any doubt.
It is worth noting that Planning Permission may be required for any new structures in the grounds of a Listed building.
