Step 2 - Make an application

Notes for completing the online form

  1. All the fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
  2. Upload the following documents onto the online application
    •    V5 Registration Certificate or other proof of ownership
    •    A valid Certificate of Insurance
    •    MOT Certificate or download of relevant page from Check the MOT status of a vehicle - GOV.UK (MOT is needed for any vehicle more than 1 year old)
    •    Council Test (from an authorised garage) (for all vehicles irrespective of age)
    •    Meter Certificate for hackney carriage vehicles only
  3. Take some photos of your vehicle so that we can see the vehicle is in good condition inside and outside and upload onto the online form or email to licensing@stroud.gov.uk
  4. If you have installed a CCTV system that records in the vehicle you must take a photo as evidence that you have signage in the vehicle stating that CCTV is in operation. Once you start operating and recording data you will need to apply for a Data Protection registration through the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and provide us with evidence of  your registration.  Apply for ICO registration 
  5. Payment - You will pay the application fee at the end of the online form, the fee charged is the application fee plus a £25 plate deposit fee. The plate deposit fee is refundable if you surrender the licence and return the plate – list of fees and charges
