All premises licences and club premises certificates issued under the Licensing Act 2003 are subject to mandatory conditions applied to the licence or certificate. These are in addition to any premises specific conditions on the licence or certificate which are individual to the relevant premises.

The Government can make amendments to the mandatory conditions. If amendments are made, those changes will apply to all licences and certificates that have already been issued and remain current, and new licences and certificates granted.

Here are the current mandatory conditions with explanations  as updated in October 2026.

For more guidance on mandatory conditions see the chapter on conditions in the Government's Statutory Guidance under the Licensing Act 2003
