Stroud District Council’s community officers have been out in our neighbourhoods, talking to residents about anti-social behaviour (ASB), reassuring people about safety, and sharing practical crime prevention tips - including handing out light timers to help keep homes safe.
ASB can take many forms - from fly-tipping and graffiti to neighbours behaving unreasonably. Whatever the issue, we have an easy way to report it: Report It to Sort It.
We work closely with the police and other agencies to resolve problems and support victims. Most cases can be solved through advice and intervention, but when all other options fail, we will take enforcement action.
Recently, two residents in Stonehouse and Stroud have been issued with anti-social behaviour injunctions after causing persistent nuisance to their neighbours. These injunctions prohibit threatening behaviour, violence, foul language, and property damage. Breaking these injunctions is a criminal offence and can result in arrest.
Cllr Marin Brown, Chair of Community Services and Licensing Committee, said:
"We will protect residents – that’s our priority. Now we need residents to help us achieve this by reporting anti-social behaviour whenever it happens."
Cllr Gary Luff, Chair of Housing Committee added:
“If injunctions are taken against council tenants and they breach them, it could result in them being evicted. We take the safety of our tenants very seriously because everyone deserves to feel safe in their home.
"If anti-social behaviour orders are broken, it’s vital that residents report it straight away. Further action will be taken, which could result in the person losing their home."
