Weekly blog - w/c 2 March 2026

Published

As we move into March, there’s lots happening across the district and plenty of ways to stay involved in local decisionmaking.

Our next council meeting is the Development Control Committee on Tuesday 10 March. You’re welcome to follow the meeting in a way that suits you – attend in person, or watch online from home. These meetings are where important planning decisions are made, and your interest and engagement are always appreciated.

This week also brings the Thrupp Ward byelection on Thursday 5 March for residents living in the ward. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. If you’re voting in person, please remember to bring an acceptable form of photo ID. It must be the original document, as photocopies or images on a device can’t be accepted. If you haven’t yet returned your postal vote, you can hand it in at a polling station by 10pm, or at the council offices at Ebley Mill before 5pm on 5 March. A short declaration is required when you drop it off. Counting will take place after the close of poll, and we’ll share results on our website and Facebook page as soon as they’re available.

For community groups interested in crowdfunding, we are holding two online workshops on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March. These interactive sessions will guide you through how Stroud Funding works, how to shape a strong project idea and how to set up your crowdfunding page. Sign up at Stroud Funding - Home - Spacehive

Finally, a reminder that the government’s Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) consultation is now live until 26 March. You can explore the proposals and share your views at Future Gloucestershire : Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation in Gloucestershire.
