" ‘Making Communities Safer’ was the theme for this year’s Anti-Social Behaviour Week which saw action across Stroud district to raise awareness of safety initiatives and promote the recently updated online reporting platform which is easier to use to report vandalism, noise nuisance, intimidating behaviour and many other issues.
Our Community Officers do a fantastic job, building strong community partnerships, by giving advice at community hubs, working with businesses, local groups, and the police. The information they receive from the new online anti-social behaviour reports will help them to take swift action and to better target their patrols.
As you may know, the government has directed that all district and county councils must be reorganised into unitary authorities, with proposals due to go to ministers in November. As councillors, we are very keen to reflect your views about how well current services work, what's most important to you about your community, and your priorities for a new council. Please do take a few minutes to have your say on this short survey, before August 9th.
All Gloucestershire authorities are part of South West Councils, which provides support to local government, represents regional interests, and enables cross-council collaboration. I’m delighted that our Council Leader, Cllr Chloe Turner, last week took on a Vice Chair role for the organisation, at an important time for the South West due to council restructures.
Finally, I was pleased to join a community event last weekend, organised by Renishaw to celebrate the life and legacy of their co-founder and former Executive Chairman, Sir David McMurtry who passed away late last year. Sir David was not only a brilliant engineer, but also an inspiring and humble man, whose commitment to our communities will be long remembered.”
