Round three of Stroud Funding launches – free workshops for community groups

Stroud Funding Round three launch

Stroud District Council is inviting local organisations, charities and community groups to take part in Round Three of Stroud Funding, a crowdfunding initiative designed to support community-led projects across the district.

The Autumn 2025 funding window is now open, with groups encouraged to get their projects ready by 5 November 2025. Crowdfunding will begin in mid-November.

To help project creators prepare, the council is hosting two free workshops:

  • In-person: Tuesday 16 September, 2.30–4pm at The Sub Rooms, Stroud
  • Online: Thursday 18 September, 5–6pm via Zoom

Workshops will cover:

  • How to access funding and support
  • Key dates and the crowdfunding process
  • Direct advice and feedback from the team

Projects must benefit people within the Stroud district and align with one or more of the council’s priorities: environment and climate change; community resilience and wellbeing; and economy, resilience and regeneration. They must be time-bound with a clear delivery date and contingency plans.

Eligible projects that reach 50% of their fundraising target may receive a council pledge – typically averaging around 30% of the total project cost, based on previous rounds.

Delivered in partnership with Spacehive, the UK’s leading civic crowdfunding platform, Stroud Funding has already helped bring 27 local projects to life, raising more than £385,000.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a community-focused idea to get support and funding,” said Councillor Martin Brown, Chair of the council's Community Services and Licensing committee.

“Whether it’s a new play area, a sustainability project, or a creative initiative, we want to help make it happen.”

Misha Dhanak, CEO Spacehive added:

"This third round of funding, delivered in partnership with Stroud District Council, is another chance for local people to bring their ideas to life. Previous ideas have shown the power of local creativity, and we’re looking forward to seeing what communities will do next."

Supporting residents to deliver community-led initiatives through crowdfunding directly contributes to the Council Plan aim of building stronger communities by supporting residents with community initiatives such as through the crowdfunding platform.

Groups not ready to launch this autumn can prepare for the next round, opening in January 2026, with workshops planned for mid-February.
