It’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day today (May 15) and after successfully launching a tool on www.stroud.gov.uk which improves accessibility, the Council is running a survey to find out what people think of it and what needs to be better.
Recite Me helps make online information easier for everyone to access. This new feature is part of the council’s ongoing work to make sure all residents can find and use the information and services they need - no matter their abilities or background.
Recite Me offers helpful tools including:
- Text-to-speech (reads text out loud)
- Translation into more than 100 languages
- Options to change text size, font, and background colours
- Tools to make reading easier
“These changes are about making sure everyone can use our website in a way that works best for them,” said Liz Shellam, SDC's Head of Customer Contact. “On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we wanted to remind everyone that the tool is available to use, as we take another step towards a more inclusive and user-friendly website for everyone in the district.”
The Council is also asking for feedback on what further improvements could be made. This short survey aims to help the council understand what works well and what can be improved on the website.
