Music in the Park returns to Stratford Park this May

Published

The popular Music in the Park season will return to Stratford Park on Sunday 3 May, bringing free live music back to the park’s bandstand throughout the summer.

These much‑loved events will take place every Sunday from May to September, with performances from 2-4pm. A mix of returning favourites and new performers will entertain audiences with a wide range of musical styles, including brass, jazz, wind and big band music.

Cllr Martin Brown, Chair of Stroud District Council’s Community Services and Licensing Committee, said: “Music in the Park is a great example of how communities come together through shared cultural experiences. These free events showcase Stroud district as a welcoming, distinctive and attractive place to live and visit. They encourage people of all ages to come together, enjoy local talent and make the most of our beautiful public space.”

The events are free to attend and open to everyone. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket or chair and enjoy the music in the beautiful surroundings of the largest public park in the district. Access is flat and accessible, and parking is free.

Refreshments will be available from Stratford Perk café at Active Lifestyles Stroud and the Museum in the Park.

Stratford Park hosts a variety of other attractions and events throughout the year, including a miniature railway on the fourth Sunday of each month from April to October, the annual Stroud Show, and a weekly 5km parkrun every Saturday morning.

Owned by Stroud District Council, the 56‑acre park features an arboretum with more than 800 trees, a lake, a Victorian orangery, expansive lawns, accessible sensory garden, two recently refurbished children’s play areas with accessible equipment, and a small skate park.

The park is also home to the free‑to‑enter Museum in the Park, which tells the story of Stroud district’s rich and diverse history through around 4,000 objects on display. Active Lifestyles Stroud offers an indoor swimming pool, gym, fitness studios, tennis courts, Astroturf pitches and a café.
