Make memories and a difference on a family canal volunteering day

Published

Families are invited spend quality time together outdoors while making a positive impact to a canalside nature reserve.

Cotswold Canals Connected is offering families with children aged 8 and above the chance to take part in a free-of-charge family volunteering activity on Saturday 18 January. Choose from two time slots: 10am-2pm or 11am - 3pm.

Organised in collaboration with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Stroud Valleys Project, families will enjoy lunch with other families, make nature-inspired masks and help clear overgrown scrub from the Fromebridge nature reserve in Whitminster. All materials, tools and lunch will be provided.

“This is a great opportunity for families to leave their screens behind for a few hours and experience the feel-good effects of being in nature, said Sarah Burgess, Cotswold Canals Connected Community Engagement Manager.

“You’ll have lots of fun while caring for the environment. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to join in and have fun!”

Limited places are available which must be booked by 10am on Friday 17 January.
