Help us build a safer district by sharing organisations supporting women and girls

At the start of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence, Stroud District Council is asking residents to help identify and map organisations across the district that support women and girls.

Cllr Chloe Turner, Leader of the council said: “We want to make our district the safest place for women and girls to live, work and visit. But we can’t do this alone. If you know of an organisation, large or small, that supports women or girls, please let us know. This could include domestic abuse services, sexual violence prevention, mental health and trauma support, youth programmes, education initiatives, or community safety projects.”

The goal is to create a comprehensive directory of organisations working in this area. This will help strengthen partnerships, improve access to support, and identify gaps in provision.

Angela Gillingham, Head of Community Services and Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, added: “We know many local groups, charities, and services are doing vital work to prevent violence, support survivors, and promote safety and equality. Whether through education, advocacy, direct support, or community outreach, we want to ensure these efforts are recognised and connected.”
