Check your details: residents asked to confirm electoral register information

Stroud District Council is reminding residents to look out for their Annual Canvass Household Letter, which is being delivered to homes across the district this month.

The annual canvass is a legal requirement to ensure the electoral register is accurate and up to date. This helps make sure that everyone who is eligible to vote can have their say in future elections.

Kathy O’Leary, Stroud District Council’s Electoral Registration Officer said:

“We’re asking residents to help us keep the electoral register accurate by responding to their annual canvass communication promptly.

"Most people will receive a letter confirming the details we currently hold. If the information is incorrect, or your letter asks you to respond, please do so using one of the methods listed. This helps us avoid sending reminder letters or making personal visits, which cost time and money. Your cooperation ensures that everyone who is eligible to vote can do so.”

If your letter advises that a response is required, please do so by Monday 25 August to help us reduce costs and ensure your right to vote is protected.

Responding is quick and easy:

  • Online: Visit householdresponse.com/stroud and enter the two security codes from your letter or email
  • Phone: Call 01453 766321 during normal office hours
  • Post: Return the form using the pre-paid envelope provided.

Postal voters

Please check your household form to see if you need to reapply for a postal vote. If your postal vote is due to expire, you’ll see a pre-printed date of 31/01/2026 next to your voting method. To avoid the need for us to send you a separate reminder letter later this year, which comes at a significant cost, we’re encouraging residents to reapply now. Early reapplications mean we won’t need to contact you again, helping us save public money and reduce unnecessary paperwork.

Although a further letter will be sent in autumn 2025, you don’t need to wait. Reapply or find out more at www.stroud.gov.uk/avreapplication

If you have any questions, please contact the Elections Team at elections@stroud.gov.uk or call 01453 766321.
