Cotswold Canals Connected community engagement

The canal connects the community, and the community connects through the canal.

This volunteer strategy outlines a vision and values for volunteering that ultimately aims to serve the communities that are historically and presently entwined with the Cotswold canals, and the current and future generations of people who enjoy the canal.

Volunteer Development Handbook

The aim of the combined set of volunteer development handbooks is to provide a set of tools that will guide and support readers in the development/enhancement  of a robust and volunteering programme.
The introduction revisits the four strategic goals of the Cotswold Canals Connected volunteer development strategy, sets out the purpose of each handbook and highlights the organisations that have collaborated to create the resources.

Volunteer Development Handbook 1:

Creating a volunteer development plan. By the end of working through the guidance in VDH 1 you should have a clear understanding of what stage your volunteer development plan is at and agreed actions for development where appropriate.

Volunteer Development Handbook 2:

Take a deeper dive into policies, procedures and systems that ensure your volunteers get the best experience and you are compliant.

Volunteer Development Handbook 3:

Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies and procedures are essential to good volunteer management. VDH 3 looks in detail at these two topics and provides useful tips and guidance on how to improve the safety of your volunteers.

Volunteer Development Handbook 4:

VDH 4 provides further guidance and support for good volunteer management and explores inclusivity, accessibility and different types of volunteering opportunities.
