Competition Terms and Conditions
The purpose of this competition is to engage families in creative activities outdoors and to showcase the enjoyment of connecting with the canals in Stonehouse and Stroud by encouraging families to submit photos and artwork. Through this initiative, we aim to foster a sense of community, spirit of place and appreciation for the natural beauty and heritage of the Cotswold canals. By participating, families have the opportunity to win an exciting price and have their work showcased on our social media channels, promoting the joy of exploration, family time and creativity.
- Organiser: The competition is organised by Stroud District Council, located at Ebley Mill, Westward Rd, Ebley, Stroud GL5 4UB.
- Eligibility:
- The competition is open to residents of the UK. Employees of Stroud District Council and/or their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
- Guardian consent is required for any photos/artwork including or created by children under the age of 13.
3. How to Enter:
- You can submit photos of yourself/your families by the Stroudwater Navigation and Thames and Severn Canal and/or while taking part in activities suggested in the family activity brochure. It can also be photos of artwork inspired by the family activity brochure – including journal pages, makes, poems, drawings, paintings etc. - via email to canalvolunteering@stroud.gov.uk.
- Artwork on paper related to the canal and/or inspired by the family activity brochure - including printed photos, journal pages, crafts, poems, drawings, paintings etc. - can be submitted at Cotswold Canals Trust (CCT) bookshops and visitor centres.
- All entries must be received by 1 June 2025 23.59 GMT (Closing Date).
- All entries, whether supplied via email or dropped off in person, must include a child's first name for attribution, a contact number of a responsible adult/guardian, and email address which will be used only for the purpose of contacting winners.
- Prize:
- A boat trip with a CCT trip boat in the 2025 season, valid for up to two adults and 4 children, plus a wildlife explorer kit.
- Winner Selection: Winners will be drawn at random from all eligible entries received by the Closing Date. The draw will take place on 04 June 2025.
- Notification of Winners: Winners will be notified by email within two working days of the draw. If a winner does not respond within 7 working days of notification, the prize will be forfeited, and another winner will be drawn as a replacement.
- Prize Conditions:
- Prizes may be subject to restrictions, are non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
- The contents of the wildlife explorer kit will be chosen by the Cotswold Canals Connected Community project.
- It is the winners' responsibility to ensure receipt of the prize. The Organiser reserves the right to exercise its own discretion to assist with this process.
- Licensing Permissions: By entering this competition, you agree that your entry may be used for social media promotion, website materials and any physical or digital branded documents (this list is not conclusive). Any intellectual property rights created during and as a result of the competition shall remain with you. You license all such rights to the Organiser and its partners free of charge and on an irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide basis.
- Data Protection: Personal data provided by you will be used solely for the purposes of this competition and in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. See stroud.gov.uk/privacy for information about how the Organiser and CCC uses personal data. Images will be retained for as long as they serve the purpose defined in these terms or until consent is withdrawn. All reasonable measures will be taken to remove personal data when consent is withdrawn, however due to the nature of the usage any information already published online or in print has no guarantee of complete erasure. - Item Safety: We do not guarantee the safety of any items dropped off at any store or visitor centre. Items can be picked up until 5 working days after the competition Closing Date. Any items left after this period might be destroyed.

- General:
- The Organiser reserves the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to amend these terms and conditions.
- The Organiser's decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The Organiser is not responsible for any entries that are not received or any inaccurate details supplied to you by any third party connected with this competition.
- The Organiser shall not be held responsible or liable for any damages, losses or injuries sustained as a result of participation in this competition
- Any entry material that is inappropriate and/or offensive and does not adhere to, or violates, the guidelines of this competition will be disqualified. This material will be destroyed, and users will be disqualified from participation in this and any other giveaway or competition.
- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
- By entering this competition, you are indicating your agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
