Statement of Community Involvement

Consultation on new draft Statement of Community Involvement

Stroud District Council has approved a new draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the purposes of public consultation.

The SCI sets out our strategy for community involvement in the planning process. It sets out the ways in which we will inform, engage and consult people when we are formulating planning policies and considering planning applications and how we will give feed back to the community on the results.

We are keen to receive your views on the contents of this draft document.

Paper copies are also available to read at town and parish council offices that open to the public, at public libraries within the district and at the District Council offices during opening hours.

If you would like to respond, please email the Planning Strategy Team at with your comments or send them to: Statement of Community Involvement consultation, Planning Strategy Team, Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, Westward Road, Stroud GL5 4UB by 18 January 2019.

The Council will consider all comments and make any necessary changes to the document before approving the final document later in 2019.

Current Statement of Community Involvement

The existing SCI was adopted by the Council in November 2007 and amended in April 2009 to refer to electronic communication. However, the SCI has since been superseded by changes in the Council's Constitution and legislation and until the new SCI has been adopted these documents must be read in conjunction. For the avoidance of doubt, where there is a conflict between these documents, legislation and then the Constitution shall take precedence.
