Fitness and Wellbeing for Everyone
Our Be Active scheme is designed to make movement accessible for everyone in the Stroud District. Whether you’re a young person, senior, carer, veteran, Blue Light worker, or receiving certain types of support, the scheme offers discounted access to a wide range of activities — helping you stay active in a way that suits your life, your personal circumstances and your budget.
With Be Active, eligible customers can benefit from discounts on:
- Pay as you go Gym, Swim and Fitness classes
- Lido swim sessions
- Memberships
Discounts range from 20% to 40%, with free membership available to qualifying care leavers aged 25 and under.
The level of discount available depends on your individual circumstances.

40% Discount
You may be eligible for a 40% discount if you are:
In Receipt of Any of the Following Benefits
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
- Pension Credit (Guarantee Element)
- Refugee Support
- Fostering Allowance
- Carer's Allowance
- War Widow's Pension
Other Eligible Groups
- Disabled people
- Carer Aware Card holders (Gloucestershire Carers Hub)
Young People (Aged 16 to 25)
- Full-time students in higher education
- Level 2 apprentices
- Young carers
Children
- Children aged 16 and under
20% Discount
You may be eligible for a 20% discount if you are:
- A State Pension recipient or senior citizen aged 66 and over
- A Blue Light Card holder
- A veteran
- A serving member of the Armed Forces
100% Discount
The following group may be eligible for free membership:
- Qualifying care leavers aged 25 and under
Veterans and Armed Forces Family Memberships
The 20% discount is also available through selected couples and family memberships for veterans.
This discount applies only when partners and/or dependent children join as part of the same couples or family membership as the veteran or serving member. The discount is not available to partners or children joining independently.
