Canal Survey

Date of consultation: Wednesday, August 16, 2023 - Monday, October 2, 2023

Consultation summary

What canal? This canal survey is for you even if you’ve never visited it.

Community organisations are keen to hear people’s experience of the Cotswold Canals, particularly those who don’t use them.

Everyone who lives in the Stroud district and is over the age of 18 is welcome to fill out the survey including those who regularly use and enjoy the canals and wider canal corridors, people who live nearby, and others who live in the district who have never visited it.

The survey asks participants about the two linked Cotswold Canals: the Stroudwater Canal (from Saul Junction to Wallbridge in Stroud) and Thames and Severn Canal (from Wallbridge to Brimscombe). The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal (from Hardwicke in the north to Sharpness in the south) is not included.

The survey results will be used as a baseline so people’s awareness and attitude towards the canals can be measured over the coming years.
