Prevent
PREVENT is one part of the government’s overall counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST. The aim of PREVENT is to:
- tackle the ideological causes of terrorism;
- intervene early to support people susceptible to radicalisation; and
- enable those who have already engaged in terrorism to disengage and rehabilitate.
This training is for people working in sectors covered by the Prevent duty, such as:
- Education
- Health
- Local authorities
- Police
- Criminal justice agencies (prisons, probation and youth justice)
Other sectors that are not covered by the PREVENT duty may also complete this training.

- Educate against hate - the site has a wealth of resources and lesson plans targeted at both schools and FE
- New educate against hate calendar - highlighting notable and relevant dates throughout the year to support curriculum inputs and embed Prevent messages (very helpful to support PSHE lesson planning)

PREVENT training
- Home office PREVENT e-learning - you can cross reference the course content with your own to ensure you're covering all the relevant information rather than duplicate
- The Home Office is currently developing a new face to face training package which will operate on a train the trainer model - launch date to be confirmed
- ACT early is a police tool and can be used as a resource and added to training. It covers all the Home Office training courses and includes case studies which help contextualise PREVENT.
