Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018
In October 2018 the Government published the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 under section 13 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. The effect of the regulations is to put in place a licensing regime to control the following licensable activities:
• Selling animals as pets
• Providing or arranging for the provision of boarding for cats or dogs
• Hiring out horses
• Breeding dogs
• Keeping or training animals for exhibition
How to Apply
To apply you will need to send us the following;
- Application Form (Word)
- Premises Plan
- Relevant Fee (you can pay the fee by calling 01453 754440)
- Arrangers Host Details Form (only to be completed by arrangers, in addition to the application form above)
The completed application form and plan should be sent to: licensing@stroud.gov.uk

Renewing your licence
We will email you a renewal application and any associated documents 4 months prior to the licence expiring. Renewal applications must be submitted a minimum of 10 weeks before the licence is due to expire. Renewal documents can be emailed to: licensing@stroud.gov.uk
Applications submitted after the 10 week deadline will be dealt with as a new application and will incur new application fees.

You will need to select the fee relevant to the activity you are licensed for.
Please note, the licence fees are broken down into two parts. The renewal fee is due when submitting your application, a grant fee then falls due once inspection has taken place and the licence is ready to be granted.
Variation to an existing Licence
To vary an existing licence you will need to send us the following;
- Variation Application Form
- Premises Plan (If changed)
