Youngsters rewarded for creative efforts

Children who got creative for Christmas competitions have been rewarded with some top prizes.
Stroud District Council’s Holiday Activity and Food programme provided four days of fun for children at the start of the Christmas holiday. As well as events and activities to enjoy, there were arts and crafts competitions to enter in the HAF activity booklet.
The programme is a partnership between SDC, Gloucestershire County Council and Gloucestershire Voluntary and Community Sector Alliance organisations, funded by the Department of Education.
A £30 Amazon voucher was awarded to the winner of The Little Blue Book of Sunshine Emotions Challenge for eight to 11-year-olds and/or in Key Stage 2. A £30 supermarket voucher was the prize for the Recipe Card Challenge open to everyone in primary school in the district.
The Recycled Characters Challenge, open to everyone in primary school saw a £10 Book voucher kindly donated by Cotswold Book Room, and a Craft and Crumb Ultimate Cookie Creator Kit. And the Snowman Challenge for five to seven-year-olds and/or in Key Stage 1 saw winners claim a giant bag of craft.
Children from schools across the district went to great lengths to enter, and the winners were: Amelia, Ava-Rose, Jay, Alice, James, Oli, Alex, Alys, Safiya, Jake, Clara and Oliver.
“Thank you to everyone who took part – there will be another chance to get involved during the Easter holiday, when more Holiday Activity and Food programme events will take place across the Stroud district,” said SDC Community Services and Licensing Committee Chair, Chris Brine.
The next HAF activities are planned for the Easter holiday in April.
Vice-chair Beki Aldam added: “I’d like to congratulate the winners for their creative efforts and I look forward to seeing more after the Easter holiday.”
