Players of a new local lottery have an extra incentive to take part this weekend – as well as cash prizes, one lucky winner will scoop £1000 in Currys PC World vouchers.
The Lucky Severn Community Lottery has been running for almost six weeks now, and has received a great amount of support from those within the community.
It is a weekly online lottery which gives players a chance to win up to £25,000 while supporting good causes and local voluntary groups in their community. For this Saturday’s draw there is also the chance to win a £1000 Currys PC World voucher.
Almost 2000 tickets have been sold which will currently raise £61,000 over the next 12 months for good causes in the Stroud district.
There is a diverse range of community groups for players to support, including Stroud Women’s Refuge, Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester, Allsorts Gloucestershire and Minchinhampton Riding for the Disabled.
Jill Cooper, Chief Executive of Stroud Women’s Refuge which has signed up as a good cause said:
“There has been an increase in domestic violence offences during the pandemic, so we are truly grateful for the Lucky Severn Community Lottery and the players that have chosen to support us. The lottery is providing community groups with much needed help after what has been a tough year. I am really proud to be a part of such a great cause and suggest that other charities get involved too. I wish the best of luck to all the lottery players in this Saturday’s draw!”
Chief Executive of Stroud District Council, Kathy O’Leary said:
“I would like to thank all of the good causes and players for participating and helping to support the Stroud district. The Lucky Severn Community Lottery has consistently provided some great incentives for people to support good causes; with two iPads previously being won and now the opportunity to win a £1000 Currys PC World voucher. I am really encouraging those who haven’t already to get involved, as it is so important we help our community groups during this difficult time.”
Community groups can register to join at any time. It is free to register and participants will receive personalised marketing materials and support, a page on the Lucky Severn Community Lottery website as well as 50p of every £1 their supporters spend. A further 10p will go to a central fund supporting other good causes in the district.
The Lucky Severn Community Lottery draws take place every Saturday night. If you would like to get involved as a good cause or as a player, visit: https://www.luckysevernlottery.co.uk/
