Town centre car park benefits from £86k investment

A town centre car park will remain open while the top two levels are resurfaced during the next six weeks.
Stroud District Council is investing £86,000 to replace the ageing surface of levels 5 and 5a of Brunel Mall car park in London Road, Stroud.
Those levels are open to the elements, and were last resurfaced in 2002. The new surface will provide a smoother ride and protect the car park structure from water ingress.
The improvements mean that 70 spaces on levels 5 and 5a will be closed for up to six weeks from Monday, March 25. However 67 long stay spaces will remain open on levels 1a and 1b, in addition to around 200 short stay spaces on levels, 2, 2a, 3, 3a, 4, and 4a.
A small number of spaces in the neighbouring London Road car park will be closed to allow for resurfacing contractor’s equipment to be stored.
“The surface has served us well but it is past its best and needs replacing,” said Community Services and Leisure Committee Chair Mattie Ross. “We are aiming for the work to be completed well within the six weeks, and reopen as soon as possible.”
