Tell us your views on our plan for future generations

Published: Wednesday, 26 May, 2021

Stroud District Council’s plan for how the district will change until 2040 is nearing completion – and we want to know what you think of it.

We are reviewing the current Stroud District Local Plan, which when adopted, will set out where development will take place in the District up to 2040 and will include policies to assess planning applications.

The period for making comments will run for six weeks from today (Wednesday 26 May) until Wednesday 7 July 2021.

“The Local Plan maps out where homes and businesses will go, up to the year 2040 and Stroud District Council has to meet a current target of almost 13,000 homes by then,” said SDC Environment Committee Chair, Councillor Chloe Turner.

“If the council does not allocate space for developers to build, the Government could direct where development takes place, so it’s really important that as many people as possible have their say.”

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, there are some changes to the way members of the public can get involved. This is in line with amended national planning legislation. This means all documentation will only be published online.

Following the consultation period, the Plan will be submitted for examination by an independent Planning Inspector, appointed by the Secretary of State.

If you have any questions about this consultation stage or need help filling in the representation form or accessing the documents please contact the Planning Strategy Team at local.plan@stroud.gov.uk or call 01453 754143.

The Pre-Submission Draft Local Plan was approved for publication by Full Council on 29 April.
