Tell us what you think of play area re-vamp plans

Published: Thursday, 12 January, 2023

Five play areas are set for a £300,000 re-vamp and we’re asking residents for their views on what they could look like.

Drop-in sessions will be held in Paganhill, Dursley, Stroud and Stonehouse later this month and all are welcome to tell us what they think.

“We had an overwhelming response from more than 500 residents when we asked for views on how play areas could be improved, in June last year.” said SDC Community Services and Licensing Committee Chair, Chris Brine.

“Five priority play areas were identified for investment using the £300,000 Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) funding and now that we’re working with a contractor, we need residents’ views.”

One of the council’s three main priorities is Community Resilience and Wellbeing, and the funding will be to update the play areas with equipment which is fun and fit for purpose. The COMF provides funding to local authorities in England to help reduce the spread of coronavirus and support local public health.

“Play areas are vital for the health and wellbeing of young children and their families, and we want them to reflect our communities’ needs,” said SDC Community Services and Licensing Committee Vice-Chair Beki Aldam.
