Storm Eunice – Garden waste collection update

Published: Friday, 18 February, 2022

Monday’s garden waste collections have been postponed so we can clear outstanding refuse and recycling collections but residents will be able to put out an extra bag of garden waste next time.

Following suspension of waste services on Friday 18 February due to Storm Eunice, garden waste collections scheduled for Monday 21 February have been postponed, to focus all available resources on outstanding refuse and recycling collections.

All residents with a garden waste collection due on Monday 21 February are asked to hold on to their garden waste until the next scheduled collection on 7 March. An extra bag of garden waste can be placed out on this collection.

Garden waste collections will resume on Tuesday 22 February.

As reported yesterday, Friday’s waste and recycling collections were postponed due to the risks to life that the very high winds posed.

SDC waste collection partner Ubico will aim to catch up the missed refuse and recycling collections on Monday, February 21. Residents whose collections are affected should re-present residual waste (grey bin) and recycling at 6am on Monday.

Food waste collections will not be re-scheduled and residents should present food waste again next Friday.

If your waste and recycling is not collected on Monday, please leave it in situ and collections will be made as soon as possible.
