Residents encouraged to sign up to electronic billing

Published: Tuesday, 12 January, 2016

Stroud District Council is encouraging residents to sign up to receive their council tax bills by email, rather than by post.

Councillor Geoff Wheeler, leader of Stroud District Council, said:

“Just two years ago we had fewer than 1,000 households signed up to receive their bills by email, but this has now shot up to 5,700. Many people prefer the convenience of receiving them electronically rather than by post and at the same time it reduces unnecessary costs. It also reduces our impact on the environment, as we can reduce the number of paper billing packs we send out in the post each year.”

Anyone wishing to receive their bill by email should complete the online form by 19 February.

There are currently 51,966 households in the district. Figures from the Office of National Statistics for 2015 show that 86% of households in Great Britain have internet access.
