As Chair of the Community Services and Licensing Committee, I am delighted to have a guest spot in the weekly SDC Leader’s Diary.
Through our Community Wellbeing grants scheme, we have been able to support many organisations across our district with well needed funds. The Careline service is going from strength to strength with 1400 customers and counting. We will be launching a new Careline sign up promotion that includes useful Community Safety items to help improve personal safety and security at home.
Our committed team of Neighbourhood Wardens plays a key role in supporting this service and various other causes across the district. Recently, the team worked hard to support residents and other agencies during Storm Eunice. Take a look at their Twitter posts for an idea of the variety of tasks they undertake @sdc_wardens.
As summer gets closer, we are also making sure the Outdoor Pool is ready for the season. The opening plans will include early morning and lunch time lane swimming sessions. To do this, we are recruiting Lifeguards who are needed to support the change in the standard opening hours. We are looking for people to come forward and volunteer to be trained. More information about the vacancies, along with coverage and information about our other projects can be found on our @activestroud pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
HAF is also back for spring. The Holiday Activity and Food Programme, a partnership project between Gloucestershire County Council, District Councils and the Voluntary Sector, strives to make sure children in receipt of free school meals are supported during holiday periods. Funded by the Department for Education, we are working with activity providers to give children and young people an exciting holiday period.
The Community Services and Licensing Committee meeting on Thursday March 24 is open to the public and can be viewed online live or recorded at https://stroud.moderngov.co.uk/
