"Stroud District Council is the only local authority in Gloucestershire which owns and maintains its own council housing stock and we are always looking to build and improve that stock.

Building affordable, energy efficient homes and delivering high quality services for all tenants by investing in the renovation of existing council homes and meeting a range of housing needs for those who experience disadvantage, and creating a culture of tenant engagement and empowerment is a key objective in our Council Plan.

With that in mind, SDC Housing Committee meets next Tuesday, September 19 and a wide range of agenda items are up for consideration. Members of the public are welcome to attend or can watch proceedings online on our YouTube channel. The housing team have recently received recognition for their approach to responsible pet ownership, having been awarded Bronze in the RSPCA pet awards.

It’s been a very busy weekend, with the Tour of Britain sweeping through the district on Saturday afternoon. The people of the Stroud district did the district proud, turning out in their thousands to line the roadsides from Wotton-under-Edge to Stroud and every village on the route.

It’s clear there is a passion for cycling in our district and we are now approaching the middle of Cycle September. It’s not too late to sign up and record your rides, and get help, support and encouragement at Love To Ride.

Pride in Gloucestershire was celebrated in Gloucester on Saturday and we as a council showed our support for this event by flying our Pride flag at our Ebley Mill offices. We usually fly the Union Flag and since the outbreak of the war on Ukraine, we fly the Ukrainian flag too. The next time that will temporarily change will be Gloucestershire Day on Thursday, September 21 when we will fly the Gloucestershire flag."
