"As we start a new year, it’s a great time to reflect and plan for the year ahead. For those who are looking to be fitter and healthier in 2023, there is a fantastic offer for a 21/90 challenge at The Pulse leisure centre in Dursley. It takes 21 days to form a habit, and 90 days to create a lifestyle, so their three-month membership offer could help you discover the exercise you enjoy, at a cheaper cost, and develop a long term healthy routine.
For cyclists in the district, we are looking for a volunteer for an important new role: as the first Stroud District Bicycle Mayor. The new Mayor will advocate for cycling in the district, and help make cycling accessible to all. They’ll also be part of a global network of Bicycle Mayors. Applications close on 20 January – you can read more details here. Applications can be made here.
At the Museum in the Park, our staff are making their annual fresh start by giving the district’s museum its yearly deep clean. This means the museum is currently closed and will reopen on 24th January.
The first public meeting of this year will be the Development Control Committee on Tuesday 17th January. For all council and committee meetings, members of the public are welcome to attend, or catch up with the live or recorded session online, which is an important part of the democratic process so public meetings are accessible to all. Agendas are published online at least five clear working days ahead of each meeting.
Finally, a big thank you to our Animal Welfare Service team and colleagues who worked with RSPCA officers, to support police on 4th January, after 11 dogs were found when police executed a firearms warrant in the north of our district."
