Stroud District Council is encouraging residents who are passionate about their community to stand in the forthcoming local elections. Thursday, 5 May 2016 will see the first ever district council elections to see all 51 councillors elected at once.

This year’s May elections will be held in 27 district wards for 51 district council seats and for all 83 parish and town councils covering 440 seats within the district.

Prospective candidates and election agents are invited to attend a briefing session on Wednesday 2 March 2016 at 6.00pm in the council chamber at the Stroud District Council offices at Ebley Mill, Ebley Wharf, Stroud GL5 4UB.

The candidates and agents briefing will cover key processes in the election timetable and guidance on how to complete a nomination paper – the official form for anyone who wishes to stand in the election. The forms will be available at the briefing.

Anyone wishing to attend must contact the Stroud District Council elections team at elections@stroud.gov.uk or by calling 01453 754887. Places will be limited and allocated on a first come first served basis. A further briefing for nominated candidates will be held on 11 April.
