Business owners are being encouraged to sign up for a free networking event at Stroud District Council which will be full of hands-on advice and information.
The 'Future Local’ Business Event will take place on Thursday 23rd March, from 5-7.30pm at Ebley Mill, Stroud, and will provide the district’s businesses with a wealth of advice on a whole host of topics.
Experts will be available to advise on issues such as business rates, food hygiene, health and safety, websites and social media, business continuity, planning and building control, health & wellbeing in the workplace, becoming a supplier to the council and trading standards.
Representatives from a number of agencies and partners including The Growth Hub, the Federation of Small Businesses, NHS Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Constabulary, Stroud Businesswomen’s Network and the Department for Work and Pensions will be there to offer dedicated advice.
Mark Godsland, an independent cyber security advisor and member of the steering group of the Gloucestershire Safer Cyber Forum will also be on hand to provide advice and guidance. He said:
"The cyber threat has now become a daily occurrence and one that pervades not only our businesses in terms of data loss, service interruption and our ability to trade but ultimately to business continuity."
Severn Wye Energy Agency will also be there to launch the next SME programme of support that will start in early April, offering grants of around 35% for energy efficiency improvements.
And James Webb, LEADER programme manager, Cotswolds Conservation Board, will be raising awareness of grant funding available to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the rural Cotswolds.
Jackie Godwin, the council’s business & education liaison officer, who has helped organise the event, said:
"This event is aimed at giving businesses in the district an opportunity to get expert advice on how to set up, improve, evolve and expand. It’s also an ideal opportunity to make new local contacts and build working relationships".
