Stroud District Council housing contractor Bell is offering three three-year painting and decorating apprenticeships, starting in September.
The successful applicants will work on Bell contracts including the 5,000 council homes owned and manged by Stroud District Council.
One day a week will be spent attending South Glos & Stroud College Filton campus, with the remaining four days in the workplace.
Rates of pay start at £5.85 per hour for those aged 16+ and £7.84 per hour for those aged 25+, rising each year.
Bell is one of the largest commercial painting, decorating and building maintenance contractors in the UK, and among the largest employers of apprentices within the construction industry.
Several directors at Bell started their careers with the company as apprentices.
Anna Higham, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Bell said:
“We are delighted to have local opportunities available and hope to receive applications from anyone interested in a career in our thriving industry. Each year we increase our apprentice intake and look to recruit the best people in our local communities.”
Stroud District Council chair of Housing Committee, Cllr Mattie Ross said:
“One of the priorities of the Council Plan is to work with partners to support the development of skills and training for all ages, including the unemployed, young people and apprentices.”
Vice chair, Cllr Lucas Schoemaker added:
“These opportunities give young people in the Stroud district the chance to earn a wage while they gain a recognised qualification.”
