Call for sites

Published: Monday, 7 December, 2015

Stroud District Council is asking landowners and parish councils to put forward any sites they consider suitable for future community uses or development, as part of its statutory Strategic Assessment of Land Availability (SALA).

Councillor Simon Pickering, chair of Stroud District Council’s Environment Committee said:

“This is an exercise we are required to undertake to identify a database of land available for future uses. In the past there has been a focus on housing, however now landowners can also put forward sites for a variety of other possible uses including commercial, retail, green spaces, leisure and community use. Council planners will then carry out an assessment so that we have up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of the site opportunities available.”

Landowners, parish and town councils, agents and potential developers can put forward sites which may be suitable for five or more homes or, for other uses, sites that are larger than 0.25 hectares / 500 square metres. Further information is available at consultation.stroud.gov.uk
