All you need to know about Covid relief business grants

Published: Friday, 22 January, 2021

Grants are being paid automatically to many qualifying businesses affected by lockdown – and this is all businesses need to know about how to make sure they get the money they need.

Stroud District Council has simplified the process by making automatic payments to businesses which qualify and have already received a grant.

If a business had to close during the November lockdown and it received a Local Restriction Support Grant payment, the business should automatically receive a Local Restriction Support Grant payment for the January lockdown.

If a business has already made a claim, a new application does not need to be made - once an application has been approved, payments will be made for all periods that the business is eligible.

If a claim has not yet been made, it can be done at https://www.stroud.gov.uk/businessrates

Full details of the amounts being provided by the Government, and paid by Stroud District Council are available at the same link.

"The Stroud District is well-known for its entrepreneurial spirit and there are thousands of businesses employing tens of thousands of people, and we really do appreciate what these grants mean to them all,” said Stroud District Council Leader, Doina Cornell.

“I am proud of our dedicated Revenue and Benefits staff who are working tirelessly – from home – to process these payments as soon as possible.”

The one-off Closed lockdown payment is expected to be paid from next week and we are working on a revised Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG). We will provide details once the policy has been approved, along with details of eligibility and how to apply.

Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, Stroud District Council has distributed 3,301 grants worth £28million in to local businesses.
