I am experiencing domestic violence

Domestic violence is physical, psychological, sexual or financial violence that takes place within an intimate or family-type relationship and forms a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviour. This can include forced marriage and honour crimes. Domestic violence often includes a range of abusive behaviours, not all of which are, in themselves, inherently 'violent' - hence some people prefer to use the term 'domestic abuse' rather than 'domestic violence' (Womens Aid, 2014).

Whoever you are, if you are experiencing domestic violence or any type of abuse please contact the Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS) on 0845 6029035.

If it is no longer safe for you to remain in your home please get in touch with GDASS or the Housing Advice Team as soon as possible. We can arrange safe temporary accommodation for you and other family members and help you plan for the future.

More information about Domestic Violence can be found on the Womens Aid website or if you are a man experiencing domestic violence see: www.mensadviceline.org.uk.
