4. Dillay Brook – Dillay Farm (upstream of Snows Farm NR) (C)

    Funding: Fully funded by GCC, GWT and SDC
  • Interventions and measures: We have installed five very large flood plain attenuation structures which will hold water at shallow depth during flood flow conditions. Construction utilises very large trees felled on –site, including Willow, poplar and Ash. Structures will potentially attenuate a significant area of water at shallow depth along this part of the brook. Felling selected trees will also allow additional light onto the woodland floor and increase the potential for riparian vegetation to become established.
  • Working practice: Work undertaken by GWT staff, working with an agricultural contractor for using a small excavator to move large pieces of timber and create shallow excavations for tree trunks
