Environmental and carbon management
Since 1996 Stroud District Council has had an Environmental Management System (EMS) and has been committed to improving the environment primarily within the Council but also with the wider community of Stroud District. The Council has an Environmental Policy and an Environment Strategy.
The District Council has several public buildings that it directly manages and is also a major landlord responsible for just over 5000 homes. The Council provides a wide range of services including environmental health, planning, social housing and cultural & leisure services. Household waste collection and recycling services are the responsibility of the Council but are contracted out as are housing repairs and maintenance. We do not provide social services, education, transport provision or highways as these are the functions of Gloucestershire County Council.
