Date of consultation: Friday, November 16, 2018 - Friday, January 4, 2019
Consultation summary
With the Stroudwater Canal set to be restored from Stonehouse Ocean up to Saul there is an exciting opportunity to make Stonehouse a canal town again. Stroud District and Stonehouse Town Councils are working together to improve 3 sites by the canal. The aim is to make these public open spaces more inviting for people and wildlife as well as helping Stonehouse benefit from the canal restoration.

Stroud Valleys Canal Company is also looking to provide moorings along this stretch of the canal, creating a great opportunity to really connect Stonehouse to the canal. Two types of moorings are proposed:
- Permanent moorings – these are for boats permanently based on the canal under licence, but cannot be lived on,
- Visitor moorings - these are for boats arriving from the National network once the canal is connected (up to 48 hours mooring).
