Consultation summary

Stroud District Council is carrying out a Polling District and Polling Places review pursuant to the provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1983 and Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 and other relevant statutory provisions.

Why we are consulting

Under the Representation of the People Act and The Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 requires the Acting Returning Officer to undertake a review of the UK Parliamentary polling districts and polling places within the Stroud District by 31 January 2020.

The Acting Returning Officer must comment on existing polling districts and places as well as any new recommendations that are being considered.

The review will formally start on Monday 12 August 2019. This will commence the public consultation which will end on Monday 14 October 2019. Once concluded, final proposals will be collated and considered by Full Council on Thursday 19 December 2019. If agreed the amendments will come into effect when the revised electoral register is published on Saturday 1 February 2020.

Neither the boundaries for parliamentary constituencies nor local ward boundaries can be amended as part of this review.
