2018 Consultation on Statement of Principles (Gambling Act 2005)

Have your say on the Council’s Statement of Principles under the Gambling Act 2005

Stroud District Council is seeking views on a draft revised Statement of Principles under the Gambling Act 2005.  

This statement sets out the principles the Council will apply when carrying out its functions under the Gambling Act 2005 and has to be reviewed and republished at least every three years.

The proposed changes between the Council’s existing Statement of Principles and the draft revised Statement of Principles are shown by the use of red text.

The main proposed changes in the draft are:

  • Local risk assessments - More detail on what the Council expects applicants and licence holders to include in their local risk assessment
  • Plans - More detail on what the Council expects to be included on plans and clarifying the procedure if there is a change to the layout of a licensed premises
  • Location of Licensed Premises - More detail on the matters the Council will have regard to when considering the suitability of a location

The Council is inviting comments on the draft revised Statement of Principles from all interested parties including residents, organisations and licence holders.

The consultation period is 14th May 2018 to 31st July 2018
