Background Information
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government wrote to local authorities in June 2010 committing them to publishing items of spending over £500 including tenders, contracts and actual payments by January 2011.
In line with guidance from the Department for Communities & Local Government, our reports show the details of supplier payments, including information on the department originating the expenditure, date of payment, and the type of expenditure. Expenditure, for the purposes of these reports, includes all individual invoices, grant payments, expense payments or other such transactions that are over £500. Certain payments will be redacted in line with the guidance under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Act (e.g. payments to vulnerable adults).
Stroud District Council is a large organisation providing a range of services to the 110,000 residents of the district. The Council's gross expenditure on all services for the financial year 2009/10 was £18.1m (excluding transfer payments and salary payments to staff).

The attached reports list all invoices that the Council has paid to suppliers in each month since April 2010. We will be updating this webpage with data for each calendar month on a regular basis.
The files show the original coding of supplier invoices. We sometimes code invoices to holding codes to enable us to pay our suppliers quickly. This means that in some we recode expenditure to the correct cost centres at a later date.
