The people of Stroud District put recycling at the top of the agenda

Stroud District Council’s consultation on the environment has been a resounding success. Since it was launched in the summer the council has received nearly 900 suggestions. Residents, community groups, businesses, the voluntary sector, town and parish councils, political groups and a host of other agencies were invited to give their views on environmental issues.

The consultation asked for suggestions to help the council formulate its 20-year environment strategy. It focused on three areas: climate change, waste and recycling, and public space management.

After much analysis, the most popular suggestions have been determined. Increasing the range of materials that should be recycled (eg cardboard) topped the table of suggestions, followed by a feeling that we should generally encourage more recycling. Energy efficiency promotion came in third.
