To provide easy and safe access into, out of, and around the town centre.

Environment

To create and maintain an attractive and clean town centre environment. This is to be achieved by targeting those elements that detract from the visual appeal of the town centre and by making ongoing improvements to the maintenance and cleaning regimes.

Bring 15 High Street back into use, with a retail unit on the High Street frontage, and a possible restaurant use at the back of the building. The new development is to encompass the former pet shop on Kendrick Street and the current site of the public toilets in Bedford Street. Andrew Watton. Year 1

Evening Economy

To promote an environment where all sectors of the community enjoy visiting the town centre in the evenings. To provide the necessary facilities and attractions to assist the development of a diverse evening economy. This is to be achieved by implementing the recommendations from the 2005 evening economy report by Urbed.

Town Centre Facilities

To provide the necessary facilities to make visiting the town centre an enjoyable and convenient experience for customers.

Promotions and Festivals

To encourage greater use of the town centre as a shopping and leisure destination by those living within a 4 mile radius of the town. To encourage day trips from a wider area.
This is to be achieved by raising the profile of what is on offer, creating an interesting programme of festivals and making it easier for people to find their way around the town centre.
