Release Date: 31 January 2013
Stroud District Council is making grants of up to £1,000 available to youth projects operating in the district. The Stroud Youth Activities Fund is aimed at making a positive difference to young people and supports them to become active citizens in their community. It is being run by Stroud District Council in conjunction with Stroud District Youth Council, which has formed a dedicated assessment panel made up of trained young people.
Kieran Chadwick, chair of Stroud District Youth Council, said:
'We are really keen to see applications from existing youth and community groups or anyone who wants to set up a new project. The grant programme provides opportunities to fund short term activities like educational trips out, themed arts and music projects, first aid training and cookery workshops.'
Councillor June Cordwell, Stroud District Council's executive member for community services, added:
'The grant programme is available to all young people living in the Stroud district. Adults can apply on behalf of young people as it is open to established groups or organisations, however a group of young people could also get together to apply for funding.'
The deadline for applications is Friday 15th February 2013. Application forms and more details including criteria and a guidance form are available at www.youth.stroud.gov.uk or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01453 754276
