Stroud District Council is leading an important study that should help local businesses grow in the next few years. The study aims to assess the local economy, find out what future needs businesses have, particularly for new or bigger sites and premises and what barriers there are to their growth. It will be carried by Aecom and BE Group on the council's behalf.
Peter Gilbert, the council's Planning Strategy Manager said "We are pleased that this study is getting under way. Economic growth and job creation are essential, so we need to have a good understanding of what companies want, what problems they may have and how we may be able to help them. It will help us and our partners when making future investment decisions and in developing the emerging Local Plan."
Aecom and BE Group has already contacted around 400 firms in the District - about 10% of the total. Other businesses wanting to express their views are welcome to do so by completing the company survey questionnaire that can be accessed at www.begroup.uk.com following the link on the home page.
The study is due to be completed in December, when the findings will be reported to the council. For further information contact Peter Gilbert: peter.gilbert@stroud.gov.uk
