With 2012 playing host to the London Olympics and The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Stroud District Council has launched the Stroud District Council Elite Scheme, to help promising athletes develop their potential.

Councillor Karon Cross, executive member for health and well-being at Stroud District Council, said:

'The new scheme, will give budding athletes free access to sport and leisure facilities across the Stroud district, allowing them to maintain their fitness and training locally for a whole year.'
