Stroud District Council

The Industrial Heritage Conservation Area Review.

Stroud District Council has been carrying out a review of the Industrial Heritage Conservation Area (IHCA). The IHCA is an enormous conservation area, running from Saul Junction in the west to the Daneway Portal on the eastern District boundary. It also has a leg that extends down the Nailsworth and Avening Valleys as far as Longford’s Mill.

The study area for the conservation area review takes in the whole route of the Stroudwater Navigation and the Thames & Severn within Stroud District.

As part of the review process, Stroud District Council will be investigating the need for any boundary changes and formulating policies and proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the character and appearance of the conservation area. These will be adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) in 2008.
