Car sharing & Car clubs

Stroud Valleys Car Club

Stroud Valleys Car Club provides members with flexible access to cars as and when they need them, without the costs and hassle of car ownership.

There are three cars based in reserved parking places in residential areas near the centre of Stroud, with more locations planned. The Car Club package of membership fees and pay-as-you-drive billing system shares the fixed costs of running a car between members, and you get to use a modern Vauxhall car.

Members can book the cars for as little as half an hour or up to a long weekend, with 24-hour access. The Car Club owns, maintains and insures the cars and there is full AA cover. The Club can also offer packages for business users.

Carsharegloucestershire

Have you ever noticed how many cars on our roads have only one person in them?Well with the launch of carsharegloucester.com we now all have the chance of sharing a lift, saving time and money, enjoying a chat on the way to work and making a real contribution to reducing congestion and pollution.

Carsharegloucestershire is a free service linking drivers and passengers to share regular or occasional car journeys. You can car share to work, to the shops, to medical or other appointments or for leisure trips and you don't have to own a car or use a computer to take part. All you have to do is log onto www.carsharegloucestershire.com or phone the call centre on 08700 111199 (national call rate).

Enter or describe your journey details and any preferences such as non-smoking. Potential travel companions will then be listed for you and if there is not match, your journey is logged and you will be contacted as soon as an appropriate 'sharer' is found. If you work shifts or flexi-time, you will be put in touch with people working similar hours.

All drivers do need to be fully insured and you can choose to be a car share driver (only), a car share passenger (only), or either of these. If you don't want to carry on car sharing, you can cancel at any time.

Your address and details won't be given to any potential sharers. It's up to you to make contact with the people whose details you are given. Personal safety information for women is also provided.
