The new planning system changes the way Councils produce plans for their areas. Councils should engage local people in planning, not just on individual planning applications but in producing plans for the way the district will develop in the future. The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act of 2004 requires that the emerging Stroud District Local Plan will eventually be replaced with a collection of documents known as a Local Development Framework (LDF) that concentrate on topics and area specific issues
The Council has prepared a Statement of Community Involvement, that sets out how the council intends to invite and encourage, both the local community and the wider public, to play an active part in the planning process which shapes the future of the Stroud area.
We would like to hear from you now if you wish to become involved in how Stroud District may change and how you may wish to become engaged in the planning process. We would like to know what Local Plan topics particularly interest you. The Council would welcome responses from all sectors of the community including Clubs and Societies, Residents and Business Groups or any representative organisation including those representing minority or racial interest groups in the district.
It is important to know your specific interests to engage you or your group in the planning process at the right time.
Please complete the online form to register an interest in the Local Development Framework.
Please note: Registering an interest is to help the Council compile a comprehensive list of interested individuals, community organisations or other stakeholders, to engage in the various stages of the LDF. In the case of planning applications, the Council already carries out consultations beyond the statutory requirements to ensure that that community is kept aware of specific proposals which may affect them. Recent planning applications and decisions can also be viewed online.
